Your development as a balloonist is important. With the recent changes to the Continuing Education Guidelines, the BFA will now allow a variety of continuing education opportunities that may fit your schedule if a traditional Continuing Education Seminar isnt convenient for you.  Within the domain of Continuing Education, professional continuing education is a specific learning activity generally characterized by the issuance of a certificate of continuing education units(CEU) for the purpose of documenting attendance at a designated seminar or course of instruction. The BFA continuing education requirements are intended to encourage pilots and crew to expand their foundations of knowledge and stay up-to-date on new developments.  There are many new allowable opportunities for you to meet the yearly CEU requirements. Please review the Continuing Education Guidelines and feel free to contact the Continuing Education Sanction Manager at with questions or to register your CEUs.   Download the following link ~ Continuing Education Guidelines-ver1.1 2013

The BFA Continuing Education program provides standards for Hot Air Balloon Continuing Education Seminars or Conferences. Each event is to have seven hours of class time and cover pertinent subjects as approved after filing an application prior to the event.  Once an event has been completed with post event data submission and the fee paid, the data will be reviewed for compliance. When all’s done, the event will be granted BFA final sanction and the data sent to the BFA and insurers.
