I am so pleased to announce the dates for the 2009 BFA HOT AIR BALLOON CAMPS! Texas will again host a camp on the Tyler Junior College campus in Tyler, Texas from July 12 through 16. Plus, this year there will be a camp in Albion, Michigan from July 19 though 23.
Tyler Junior College is an exceptional facility in a key location. Tyler is located 10 miles South of I-20, 80 miles East of Dallas, Texas and 80 miles West of Shreveport, Louisiana. The campers will arrive July 12th at noon and enjoy a fun-filled week of activities with departure planned for July 16th at 2 pm. The focus of the camps is ballooning safety and fun!
Here is a great letter we received about Balloon Camp 2007.
My name is Grace McDonald. I will be entering the 9th grade this fall. I attended Hot Air Balloon Camp last year, and I had such a great time, I really want to go back again this year, not only because it was so much fun, but it was a great experience and I really cherish all that I learned about mathematics, science, and navigation.
When I am older I hope to attend Baylor University and study engineering. I have already been working to prepare myself for this oppurtinity particularly by excelling myself in school. Last year I placed second in the school science fair in the category Biology. This year I joined the Robotics team at my school, in which we learned to build and program small robots to perform simple tasks on demand and autonomously. I am involved in Soap Box Derby, where I am required to build and work on my car almost independantly. Also, in school, science has been my best subject, with a 100% on my end-of-course exam, and a score of 2806 on my TAKS test, one question away from a perfect score.
I think Hot Air Balloon Camp will help me because I remember learning things about weather, history of aviation, GPS and navigation. Not only did I learn so much about these things but I learned many social skills at balloon camp, such as teamwork. Never before have I seen something involving so much teamwork as crewing a hot air balloon! It was truly an amazing experience and I can't wait to go again this year. Thank you.
